DCC in model railways stands for Digital Command Control. It is a system that uses digital signals to control the movement and operation of model trains and accessories on a layout. With DCC, each locomotive on the layout can be controlled independently and simultaneously, allowing for more realistic and dynamic train operations. You can also run more than one locomotive on the same section of track.

DCC also enables other features, such as sound effects, lighting, and animation to be controlled by the same system via accessory buttons on your controller.
